Due to Earthquakes: "More than 130,000 Voters Will Cast Their Ballots Outside Their Regions"

Today, the head of Turkey's Supreme Election Council, Ahmed Yener, indicated that at least 133,000 voters, affected by the devastating earthquakes that struck the south of the country in February, will cast their votes outside their regions. Yener stated, "Officials from the Supreme Election Council are visiting the earthquake-hit areas to oversee the preparations for the voting process." He added, "Approximately 133,000 voters from the earthquake areas have changed their registered polling places to other regions, and a total of 600,000 voters have changed their polling places across Turkey." He continued, "More than 64 million Turkish citizens, 3.4 million of whom are abroad, are registered to vote in the elections. The population of Turkey is around 85 million."
