German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock announced today, Thursday, that Germany will increase humanitarian aid for Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip by 50 million euros (52.91 million dollars) as the humanitarian crisis affecting 2.3 million people there worsens. Baerbock told reporters in Amman, where she met with her Jordanian counterpart during a regional tour that also includes Israel and Lebanon, that German aid will support international organizations such as the World Food Programme, UNICEF, and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). She added, "This precarious situation, which resulted from the horrific terrorist attacks by Hamas, also means a catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza."
