Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu described the relationship between China and Iran as important, asserting that "developing it, including military cooperation, holds exceptional and strategic significance for China." He stated, "Our vision for relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran is profound and long-term," considering that "the two countries have mutual strategic trust and advocate for independence."
Li Shangfu explained that "China has supported Iran's position against unilateral sanctions and condemns any form of interference in Iran's affairs, as well as supporting the territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran," noting that "the two countries have sincere and effective cooperation against the hegemony of certain nations." He added, "We believe there is a good prospect ahead of us and that the Islamic Republic of Iran plays a positive and constructive role in regional issues, and we support resolving Iran's issues with its neighbors."
