The U.S. National Hurricane Center reported today, Sunday, that "Tropical Storm Idalia" formed in the Caribbean Sea approximately 130 kilometers east-northeast of Cozumel, Mexico, and is heading towards the state of Florida." It noted that "the storm, which has intensified from a tropical depression, is accompanied by winds of 65 kilometers per hour and could strengthen into a hurricane over the eastern Gulf of Mexico by Tuesday." The Miami Weather Service stated, "Data collected by a hurricane monitoring aircraft from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration indicates that Tropical Depression Ten has strengthened into Tropical Storm Idalia."
