Rome Confirms Death of Israeli-Italian Missing Since Hamas Attack

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani confirmed today, Tuesday, the death of Evyatar Moshe Kebnis, who held both Italian and Israeli citizenship and had been missing since the attack launched by the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on Israel on October 7. Tajani wrote on the social media platform "X," "I am close to his family, especially to his two sons whom I met during my visit to Tel Aviv."

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Kebnis disappeared following the attack on Be'eri, a farming community located five kilometers from Gaza, which was one of the first areas attacked by Hamas. The ministry noted that Israeli authorities conducted a DNA test that confirmed the death of the 65-year-old man.

Furthermore, the statement indicated, "The Italian embassy in Tel Aviv is in contact with the family to assure them of any assistance possible during this difficult time." The statement also mentioned that two citizens with dual Italian and Israeli citizenship are still missing, and the Italian government is fully committed to following up on their cases.
