The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division, issued a statement today, Friday, stating: "As part of the continuous efforts by Internal Security Forces to curb car theft operations across various Lebanese regions and their transfer to Syrian territories, specialized units have intensified their investigative and field efforts in areas prone to theft.
As a result of extensive inquiries and investigations, the Information Branch identified a gang whose members are engaged in stealing cars and transporting them outside Lebanese territory, among whom is identified as: - A. F. (born in 1997, Syrian-Palestinian).
On 23-9-2023, after precise surveillance and monitoring, the branch’s patrols managed to arrest him in the Harisha area of Akkar. During questioning, he confessed to his involvement along with others in transporting several stolen cars from the Jounieh area to Tripoli, before they were to be moved later to the Bekaa region and subsequently into Syrian territory.
Legal measures were taken against him, and he was referred to the appropriate authority based on judicial instructions. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects."
