Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea confirmed that "the parliamentary session that took place yesterday was a farce, aside from being unconstitutional." He stated in a statement, "At the very least, this council, which convened to extend the terms of municipal and elective councils, could have met to secure the necessary funding to conduct elections instead of working to disrupt and cancel them. In any case, the rope of lies is short." He continued, "As for the Cabinet, which also met yesterday but in the afternoon and made several decisions regarding the allocation of funds for specific matters, for example, granting the Ministry of Health $35 million from special drawing rights, why can it not allocate funds for completing the municipal and elective elections, especially since the required amount is less than ten million dollars?" He announced that "the Strong Republic Bloc and opposition forces are preparing to challenge the law extending the terms of municipal and elective councils as soon as it is published in the official gazette."
