She noted that "the list of the five most popular names in Moscow has not changed in the first quarter of 2023; Alexander, which had been at the top for many years, is in second place, followed by Maxim, Mark, and Lev." Among girls, names like Sofia, Anna, Maria, Eva, and Victoria remain popular.
Media reported on January 31 that Moscow registered 10,000 names for children, including 51.4% male names and 48.6% female names. Among the rare and unusual names, there were registrations like Avocado, Lagre-Kosmos, Ural, Astra, and Moza Brilliant. Additionally, it was reported that the popularity of rare names among newborns increased by 15% in Moscow in 2022.
