Tottenham Signs Goalkeeper Vicario from Empoli

Tottenham Hotspur, competing in the English Premier League, announced today, Tuesday, its signing of Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli. The 26-year-old goalkeeper will sign a contract until 2028, and British media reported that the deal is worth around £17 million ($21.67 million). Vicario received his first call-up to the Italian national team in September of last year for two Nations League matches against England and Hungary. He participated in 71 matches in all competitions during two years with Empoli. He played 31 league matches last season, conceding 39 goals and keeping seven clean sheets. Vicario has become the second signing made by Tottenham since appointing coach Ange Postecoglou earlier this month, following midfielder Dejan Kulusevski's permanent transfer after a loan spell.
