The National Earthquake Monitoring Center in Nepal reported that a 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal today, Sunday. It added that the epicenter of the earthquake was in the Dadeng area, approximately 55 kilometers west of the capital, Kathmandu. A senior official in the Dadeng area told Reuters, "We felt very strong tremors. Some residents rushed out of their homes. There have been no reports of injuries yet." The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre indicated that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 13 kilometers.
