Fatal Car Accident in Iraq Involving Iranians

The Traffic Directorate of Maysan Province in southeastern Iraq announced the deaths and injuries of 12 individuals in a horrific car accident in the province. In a statement released yesterday, Monday, the directorate reported that "the collision between two vehicles, a Chrysler taxi sedan and a bus (from a facility) on Al-Shib road leading to the border crossing, occurred due to excessive speed and drowsiness."

The statement noted that "the accident resulted in the death of all passengers in the small taxi, totaling 6, including 5 Iranian visitors," and indicated that "6 passengers from the larger vehicle sustained serious injuries." The Traffic Directorate urged "all vehicle drivers to exercise caution and avoid speeding, as well as to take sufficient rest and sleep to prevent road accidents and protect the lives of themselves and others."
