The President of the Italian Olympic Committee, Giovanni Malagò, confirmed today that Italy intends to impose restrictions on athletes from Russia and Belarus, who will be allowed to compete in the Fencing World Championships in Milan next July. Malagò stated that "no flags from the two countries will be raised, or the name of the country displayed, or even the national anthem played. Athletes will be prohibited from wearing national team uniforms and will be required not to make statements supporting the war." He added, "Athletes will not be able to participate in team events, and those with ties to any military teams will not be accepted."
