U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has called on the Senate to stop aid to Ukraine in order to avoid a government shutdown in the country. CNN reported McCarthy stating that "the funds allocated for Ukraine should be removed from the temporary spending bill." He added, "I believe if the Senate includes Ukraine and focuses on it instead of focusing on the United States, it could cause real problems." Earlier, U.S. senators proposed including $6 billion in the temporary budget, instead of the $24 billion requested by the White House for additional aid to Kyiv.
