Pope Francis Calls for a Humanitarian Corridor to Aid Those Trapped in Gaza

Pope Francis called for the opening of humanitarian corridors to help those trapped in the Gaza Strip and reiterated his plea for the release of hostages held by Hamas. In his weekly sermon to crowds in St. Peter's Square today, he said: "I strongly hope that children, the sick, the elderly, women, and all civilians do not become victims of the conflict." He added, "Human rights must be respected above all else in Gaza," and continued, "Many have already died. Please, no more bleeding of innocent people, whether in the Holy Land, Ukraine, or anywhere else. Enough! Wars are always a defeat, always."
