Dr. Diana Lobanova, a Russian psychologist, announced that depression and dissatisfaction with appearance are signs of a midlife crisis in women. The specialist notes in an interview with the newspaper "Izvestia" that a midlife crisis is characterized by a reevaluation of oneself and life experiences. This period typically occurs in men and women aged 30-50 years. The midlife crisis in women generally manifests clearly through dissatisfaction with their external appearance and a desire to change it. It may also be reflected in the fear of aging and feeling unattractive. A woman who has not married or had children may feel she will never be able to do so.
The specialist states, "During this period, a woman may experience frequent crying and mood swings. A woman who has given birth may feel that her children have grown up and no longer need their mother’s attention. Therefore, she may not know how to direct her natural desire to care for them, and she might even feel that her husband and children no longer need her."
According to Russian psychologist Vladislav Chubarov, many people in a midlife crisis make revolutionary decisions, including changing their place of residence, job, or even life partner. The essence of this phenomenon lies in the fact that a person begins to recognize the fear of aging and death, realizing that they are not eternal. Thus, this period becomes an attempt to live a new life.
Chubarov advises against making such revolutionary decisions during a midlife crisis, as most people who do so regret their actions.
