Sources from the Sudanese government reported today, Saturday, that representatives from the government have arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to resume talks with the Rapid Support Forces, a paramilitary group that has been in conflict with the Sudanese army for three months. Saudi Arabia and the United States suspended previous talks between the Sudanese parties in Jeddah in early June due to numerous violations of the ceasefire. Neither Riyadh nor Washington has yet confirmed the resumption of the talks. A separate mediation attempt was initiated by Egypt on Thursday, which was welcomed by the Sudanese army, closely linked to Cairo, and the Rapid Support Forces.
