The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Philippe Lazarini, announced after meeting with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati that they "discussed the conditions of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and the national plan in Lebanon to consider what we can offer to one of the most needy communities in the country." He added, "The national plan is a comprehensive plan to look at how to improve the conditions of Palestinian refugees and the situation in the camps, as well as enhance their self-reliance, and how to provide job opportunities to improve their situations." In the same context, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Abdullah Bou Habib, during his meeting with Lazarini, emphasized the necessity of "UNRWA continuing its services to protect stability in the camps," asking Lazarini to work towards making investments in developmental and long-term projects that can actually change the lives of Palestinians and enable them to live in better conditions.
