The Public Relations Department of the Beirut Municipality stated in a report that around 6:00 PM on September 7, 2023, a patrol from the Beirut Municipal Guard suspected a black motorcycle without license plates carrying two individuals in the Shatila area. When the patrol officers attempted to stop the motorcycle to verify its legal status, the driver and the passenger abandoned the motorcycle and fled towards the Shiyah area (outside the jurisdiction of Beirut Municipality), disappearing from sight. The Beirut Municipality indicated that upon searching the motorcycle, a quantity of various drugs (cocaine, marijuana, etc.) was found, packaged and sealed in plastic bags. Immediately, following the directives of Beirut Governor Marwan Abboud, the seized items and the motorcycle were handed over to the relevant authorities for legal action.
