Political sources have noted that officials are distracting the Lebanese people with side issues and problems instead of focusing on the presidential election file, which should receive exceptional attention for the election of a new president of the republic as soon as possible. This should be followed by important steps, including forming a new government and revitalizing the state in all aspects. The sources said, "For some time now, ministerial and technical meetings have been held, and funds in foreign currency have been allocated to increase electricity supply across all Lebanese regions, at times by two hours, four hours, or even five hours daily, according to Minister of Energy Walid Fayad. Then it reduces to two hours afterward, and suddenly promises evaporate, leaving the Lebanese people in total darkness, with excuses being invented that return the supply to zero, starting from the non-disbursement of funds allocated for purchasing fuel, to unresolved issues related to the Caesar Act for importing electricity and gas from Jordan and Egypt, up to the violations occurring on the grid and the lack of cooperation from parties and officials to remove these violations." Yesterday, Electricité du Liban announced the start of implementing a new electricity plan, increasing electricity supply to four hours daily, and informed the Lebanese about the commencement of billing based on the new pricing. However, the institution overlooked that many areas in the capital, in particular, have been excluded from the electricity supply map for a long time, with not even one hour of supply weekly.
