Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian downplayed the threats made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, mocking the drawings he presented. Abdollahian told the official Iranian agency "IRNA" that "Israel is suffering from accumulated crises, and no one pays attention to Netanyahu's statements and threats." He added that "Israel is living through its weakest period, and what Netanyahu said at the UN General Assembly is nothing but a joke." He revealed that "one of the officials participating in the UN General Assembly told me that Netanyahu brings his childhood drawings to the UN to tell them to the participants!" During his speech at the UN General Assembly on Friday, Netanyahu stated that the threat posed by religious leaders in Tehran is driving Israel to rapprochement with the Arab world. Netanyahu has long used the UN platform to warn of "the danger posed by Iran," stating, "As long as I am the Prime Minister of Israel, I will do everything in my power to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons."
