At least 35 people were killed today, Saturday, due to a fire that broke out in a smuggled fuel depot in southern Benin near the border with Nigeria, according to Interior Minister Hassan Sido. The minister told reporters, "A serious fire broke out this morning in the city of Sèmè Podji. We unfortunately recorded 34 dead, including two infants," noting that "the cause of the fire is smuggled fuel."
