Al-Shabaab fighters claimed responsibility for an attack on a luxury restaurant in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, on Friday, which resulted in at least seven injuries. The attack occurred at the popular "Pearl" restaurant located in a hotel overlooking the beach early Friday evening. The Somali news agency confirmed on Twitter that security forces "successfully neutralized Al-Shabaab fighters responsible for the terrorist attack on the Pearl Beach Hotel at Lido Beach." It added that approximately 84 civilians were rescued, and six people were killed. The agency stated that the entire area is surrounded by security forces.
