The media office at the Dar Al-Fatwa indicated today, Saturday, that "the Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Deryan, firmly rejected the proposal to amend Article 6 of Legislative Decree No. 18/1955, to extend his term for one time until he reaches the age of seventy-six, offered in a session of the Higher Islamic Council outside the agenda. He appreciated the initiative of some council members who sought to extend the Mufti's term."
