The Japanese Nikkei index recorded its longest losing streak of the year today, Tuesday, as shares of many major technology companies in the country declined. The Nikkei closed down 0.49%, reducing losses that persisted for most of the afternoon trading. Earlier in the day, the index had fallen by as much as 1.2%. The Nikkei dropped 3.1%, continuing a losing streak that has lasted for four days, the longest since mid-December. It had previously hit a 33-year high of 33,772.89 points on June 19. The broader Topix index also fell, down 0.28%.
