Protesters Attack Police Car in Paris

Clashes erupted between demonstrators and French security forces during a protest against police violence in Paris on Saturday, which Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin described as "unacceptable violence." Video footage shared by Paris Police Chief Laurent Nunes on the platform formerly known as Twitter showed a police car being attacked with metal rods while in motion. Nunes added that a bank was also attacked. Darmanin wrote on the platform, "We see where police hatred is leading us." Nunes stated in an interview with BFM TV that one police officer exited the vehicle with his weapon drawn but did not use it, adding that the demonstration resumed normally after the vehicle managed to leave. He also mentioned that three individuals were arrested. Several groups and political parties had called for demonstrations in different areas of France to protest the issues surrounding police violence and allegations of racist practices.
