Pol Espargaro Leaves Intensive Care Unit

Team Gas Gas Factory Racing Tech 3 director, Hervé Poncharal, announced today, Friday, that Pol Espargaro has left the intensive care unit, but the recovery path is long after the accident he suffered during the Portuguese Grand Prix at the start of the MotoGP World Championship. He stated: "I have very good news regarding Pol, he is lively and really wants to return because his morale was low in the past few days since he has been alone in the intensive care unit." He added, "The good news is that he was transferred to a regular room this morning, he got out of bed, and walked several steps, and he is in good condition." Following the accident during the free practice in Portimão, Espargaro sustained a lung contusion, a broken jaw, and a fracture in one of his vertebrae after falling from his motorcycle and crashing into the barrier. The 31-year-old racer did not participate in the qualifying trials or the race due to the incident, and he traveled to Barcelona earlier this week and underwent jaw surgery on Tuesday.
