Kanaan: We Will Approve the Sovereign Oil and Gas Fund Next Week

The head of the Finance and Budget Committee, MP Ibrahim Kanaan, stated during a meeting with committee members and in the presence of the Minister of Energy in the caretaker government, Walid Fayyad, and Finance Minister Youssef Khalil, that "we discussed the report of the subcommittee on the sovereign fund, and we affirmed the commitment to the independence of its management, transparency of its accounts, and its foreign investments. We will hold two sessions on Thursday and Monday to finalize its approval and submit it to the General Assembly so that it is ready before starting exploration in mid-August."
