The Quintessential Paris Meeting: The Solution Lies with the Lebanese First and Foremost

Diplomatic sources revealed that the quintet meeting in Paris, which included the United States, France, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Qatar, has entrusted France with the responsibility of conveying the meeting's outcomes to the Lebanese parties. This will be carried out by France’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Anne Grillo, who will begin a tour with the ambassadors of the concerned countries, starting with a visit to President Berri this afternoon. She will later meet with other officials and relevant political figures to inform them of the conclusions reached regarding assistance for Lebanon to elect a new President of the Republic and resolve the difficult political and economic crisis confronted by the Lebanese people.

The sources added that the group of five ambassadors will communicate to Lebanese officials and political parties the desire of the participating countries to assist in resolving the Lebanese crisis, based on the Kuwaiti document previously delivered to Lebanese officials during the visit of the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister to Lebanon, which consists of 12 points. They emphasized that the responsibility for the solution ultimately rests with the Lebanese themselves, and the role of the participating countries is to provide help and support.

The sources indicated that the ambassadors of the mentioned countries will focus in their meetings on the necessity of initiating solutions to the crisis by expediting the election of a President of the Republic and commencing the formation of a new government, which is expected to accompany the start of the new term and undertake the tasks assigned to it. They will also address the required steps to begin tackling the pressing crisis from all aspects, economically and financially, through restoring confidence in the Lebanese state.
