The Iraqi Health Ministry warned today, Monday, against the use of fireworks and "sajm" during Eid, reiterating its recommendation to ban the import of these items. Ministry spokesperson Saif Al-Badr stated that "the issue of fireworks and the firing of gunshots is a recurring problem during every occasion, whether it is a holiday, public celebrations, or mourning gatherings."
He added that the ministry records hundreds of injuries of varying severity across all provinces, some of which can lead to permanent damage to the eye or injuries to the nose or ear, as well as burns of varying degrees caused by fireworks, which can sometimes lead to fires in homes.
He emphasized that the ministry recommends taking necessary measures to regulate the use and circulation of fireworks and "sajm" and not to import them, warning against their use during Eid.
