The Premier of Nova Scotia announced the death of two out of four people who were reported missing after floods struck the Atlantic province earlier this week. Police confirmed the death of a 52-year-old man who was believed to be missing after floodwaters submerged his vehicle, and stated they found another body likely belonging to one of the four missing individuals who disappeared as water levels rose. The storm caused rainfall exceeding 250 centimeters in some locations within 24 hours, which typically corresponds to the rainfall amount expected over three months. The floods inundated roads and buildings, causing damage to bridges and a railway line connecting parts of the country to Halifax, the fourth largest port in Canada. Maritime services have not yet been affected by the closure of the railway line.
