Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed Al-Jadaan confirmed that attracting global players such as Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentine Lionel Messi falls under the goals of Vision 2030. In statements to the American channel "CNBC" regarding the anticipated benefits of signing players like Ronaldo and Messi, Al-Jadaan said, "I think Vision 2030, which we have talked about before, includes the quality of life as an important part."
He added, "We wanted to ensure the improvement of the quality of life in the Kingdom. Sports are an important part of that, and the youth in Saudi Arabia are interested in watching sports. I believe that anything we do to enhance this industry will indeed yield results and improve the quality of life for our people and for those working in Saudi Arabia from abroad."
When asked if he expects the Saudi Public Investment Fund to acquire more European clubs in 2023, Al-Jadaan replied, "I cannot comment on matters related to individuals as I am not involved in them, but what I can say is that we want to ensure that we implement our plans on time and within budget, which is what we are doing and we have started to reap the rewards."
It is worth noting that Al-Nassr signed Cristiano Ronaldo (37 years old) on December 30, 2022, for two and a half years, until the summer of 2025.
