Field Visit by Ministry of Agriculture Team in Deir Ahmar and Surrounding Towns

The Ministry of Agriculture announced that, based on the directives of the Minister of Agriculture in the caretaker government, Abbas al-Hajj Hassan, "teams from the Ministry of Agriculture - Baalbek-Hermel Agricultural Directorate conducted a field visit to the towns affected by the winds that struck the region on Friday, September 8, 2023, namely: Deir Ahmar, Btrad, Ainata, and Barqa. The damages to the apple orchards were assessed, and during this inspection, accompanied by representatives from the municipalities, it was noted that there was damage to the vineyards due to the extreme heat wave that preceded the winds by several days. The teams toured the affected orchards and fields, conducting a comprehensive damage assessment and organized a report which was submitted to the Minister of Agriculture, providing him with the names of the farmers and the quantities of the damaged fields, in addition to the areas of the properties." The statement highlighted that "the visit included a special meeting with Bishop Hanna Rahme at the bishopric building in Deir Ahmar, as well as the President of the Union of Municipalities of Deir Ahmar and its surroundings and the cooperative associations in the area."
