U.S. President Joe Biden stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not joking about the possibility of using tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine, noting that these threats pose a risk of the end of humanity for the first time. Biden made his remarks during a gathering of his Democratic supporters in New York City.
Biden said, "Putin is not joking about the possibility of using tactical nuclear weapons." He added, "What we are experiencing is the most dangerous since the Cuban missile crisis, and the situation resembles Armageddon." He continued, "We haven't faced the possibility of an apocalypse since Kennedy and the Cuban missile crisis."
This statement came just hours after another comment from Biden, in which he said he does not rule out meeting Putin at the G20 summit in Indonesia. The White House also stated earlier that there are currently no indications of Russia's intention to use nuclear weapons amid its ongoing war with Ukraine.
