Japan Issues Tsunami Warning for Islands Off Its Eastern Coast

Japan has issued a warning for tsunami waves reaching one meter high for the islands located off the Izu Peninsula on the east coast of the country. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the warning came after an earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 6.6 occurred at 11 a.m. near Torishima Island. The epicenter of the earthquake was in the Pacific Ocean, approximately 550 kilometers south of Tokyo.
