British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is traveling to Egypt today, Friday, as part of a Middle East tour, where he will emphasize that there should be no escalation of violence in the region following Hamas's attack on Gaza. His office stated that "Sunak will stress during talks in Egypt the need to avoid regional escalation and prevent further unnecessary loss of civilian lives."
Sunak was the latest Western leader to visit Jerusalem on Thursday to show support for Israel and to negotiate a way to ensure the release of hostages held by Hamas, while facilitating humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. Later on Thursday, he met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Saudi Arabia, urging the use of Saudi leadership in the region to support stability, while expressing concerns that Hamas's attack and Israel's response could ignite regional unrest.
