Meghan Markle, the wife of British Prince Harry, criticized the British press over reports suggesting that exchanged messages with King Charles influenced her decision not to attend his coronation. According to the "Daily Telegraph," Meghan wrote to the King to express her concerns about unconscious bias within the royal family. She stated that the message was sent following her remarks in a 2021 interview with broadcaster Oprah Winfrey, where she claimed that the royal family expressed concern over the color of her son's dark skin.
The newspaper noted that "the Duchess of Sussex did not feel she received a satisfactory response to her concerns." A spokesperson for Meghan indicated that "the Duchess of Sussex is moving on with her life at the moment, without thinking about correspondence that took place two years ago." They added, "Any suggestion to the contrary is not only incorrect but frankly ridiculous," urging tabloid media and various royal correspondents to stop.
Prince Harry will attend the coronation next month without his wife, who will remain in California with their two children.
