Arrest of

Mexico has arrested Ovidio Guzmán, a Mexican drug gang leader and son of drug emperor Joaquín Guzmán, known as "El Chapo." This triggered a violent response from gang militants, resulting in the closure of Culiacán city airport, with authorities urging residents to stay indoors. Defense Minister Luis Cresencio Sandoval announced at a press conference that security forces arrested the 32-year-old prominent member of the Sinaloa cartel. The arrest comes three years after an embarrassing failed attempt to capture him by the government. Sandoval added that Ovidio is now detained in Mexico City. Video footage showed violent clashes overnight in Culiacán, the main city in Sinaloa state in northern Mexico, as helicopter fires illuminated the sky. The airport in the city became a target of the violence, with the government airline reporting one of its planes was hit by gunfire before a scheduled flight to Mexico City. Additionally, it stated that no one was harmed. The airport was closed until Thursday night.
