Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stated that "the continued comprehensive development of relations with neighboring countries is one of the main principles of the balanced foreign policy adopted by the Iranian government," according to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
Abdollahian affirmed that "Iran's neighboring countries possess significant economic, commercial, and political potentials," saying, "I headed to visit Qatar and Oman today to enhance relations and follow up on the decisions made in previous mutual visits by senior officials."
Abdollahian arrived early Tuesday in the Qatari capital, Doha, at the head of a political delegation, where he will hold talks with senior officials. After Qatar, the Iranian foreign minister will head to Muscat for consultations with Omani authorities.
This visit comes at the invitation of his Qatari counterpart. Among the key agenda items are conducting bilateral talks and exchanging views on important regional and international issues, as well as matters related to negotiations on lifting sanctions and similar topics.
