Christie's auction house announced today, Monday, that the private jewelry collection consisting of 700 pieces owned by the late Austrian billionaire Heidi Horten, the largest and most expensive collection of its kind to be sold at auction in the world, may fetch over $150 million.
Among the most impressive pieces is the Indian diamond necklace "Pruillet of India," weighing 90 carats, created by Harry Winston, and the necklace "Sunrise Ruby" along with a diamond ring made by the Cartier jewelry collection, which is expected to reach a price of $20 million.
The collection also includes more than 100 pieces of jewelry from Bulgari, which Horten purchased from the early 1970s until her passing last year.
It is expected that Horten's collection will surpass the sales record set by Christie's for Elizabeth Taylor's collection in 2011 and the "Magnificent Maharajas and Mughals" auction in 2019, the only two jewelry collections to have achieved over $100 million.
