China announced today, Monday, that it is imposing export controls on certain drone-related equipment amid rising tensions with the United States over technology. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated that the export controls on the equipment include some drone engines, lasers, communication equipment, and anti-drone systems, which will come into effect from September 1. In contrast, U.S. lawmakers pointed out that over 50% of the drones sold in the United States are made by the Chinese company DJI, which are the most commonly used drones by public security agencies.
