The Russian Ministry of Defense stated early on Tuesday that it had thwarted a large Ukrainian attack in the Donetsk region, inflicting significant casualties on Ukrainian forces and destroying eight Leopard tanks while Ukrainian troops continued to fight. The ministry reported on its Telegram channel that "the armed forces, tactical aviation, missile and artillery forces, in addition to flame thrower systems, dealt a severe blow to the Ukrainian troops."
It added that Russian forces had destroyed 28 tanks, including eight German-made Leopard tanks, three French-made AMX-10 tanks, and 109 armored vehicles. Activists on social media shared videos claiming to show the Russian army destroying Leopard tanks, noting that this was the first time these tanks had been reported in the battlefield after being supplied by Western nations, particularly Germany.
In Kyiv, the military administration of the Ukrainian capital announced on Telegram that air defense systems had intervened to repel airstrikes on the Kyiv region early on Tuesday.
