Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani indicated that "Kosovo could hold new elections in municipalities with a Serbian majority if 20 percent of voters sign a petition requesting this." In an interview with Reuters, Osmani stated that she believes the petition is the most "democratic way to initiate new elections, and through this way, I think we will ensure Serbian participation because the request will come from them, from the citizens." She added, "Dismissing mayors through a petition from voters would be a kind of referendum that would pave the way for another vote to elect new mayors," noting that "the entire process could take place within a few months."
