Sydney Experiences Hottest Days in Over Two Years

Eastern regions of Australia, including Sydney, have recorded the hottest days in over two years, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, increasing the risk of bushfires. Firefighters are working to contain nearly 40 fires across New South Wales, where a third of Australians live, with ground crews supported by aircraft. Additionally, 33 public schools, mostly in inland areas, have been closed due to the high temperatures. Angela Bourford, a spokesperson for the New South Wales Fire Service, told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation that "if a fire starts, it will continue to burn under these difficult conditions, making it harder for firefighters to extinguish it."
