The "Real Madrid" club announced that it has filed a complaint with the Spanish prosecutor, alleging that its Brazilian player Vinicius Junior was a victim of a hate crime due to racist chants directed at him while playing away against Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium yesterday.
The Spanish club stated, "Real Madrid fully rejects and condemns the events that occurred yesterday against our player Vinicius Junior." They added that such chants represent, in their view, a "hate crime," prompting the club to file a complaint with the prosecutor's office.
An anti-discrimination movement and the Association of Footballers in Spain also announced in a joint statement that they would also file a complaint with the same prosecutor's office regarding the racist chants directed at a Black player.
