Buckingham Palace and the makers of a new screen set to be used during the coronation ceremony of King Charles next week announced that "a three-sided screen has been designed as a barrier for King Charles, ensuring him absolute privacy during the ceremony, so that the eyes of the world will not see the king being anointed with the holy oil brought from Jerusalem." This screen is crafted using a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern techniques, standing at 2.6 meters tall and 2.2 meters wide, featuring wooden columns topped with bronze eagles coated in gold leaf.
Nick Goutfrund, the designer and maker of the screen, confirmed that "previously, a canopy was placed above, which did not provide real privacy, as it was more symbolic; now this screen offers complete privacy."
