Dr. Asia Mola, a general practitioner at The Health Suite medical center, revealed the signs of celiac disease. She stated, "Only 36% of those affected have been diagnosed. Symptoms may include decreased gluten sensitivity, bloating, diarrhea, and stomach pain."
She advises those experiencing these symptoms to undergo a blood test with their general practitioner to check for celiac disease, which can lead to skin inflammation appearing as an itchy rash. Mola confirmed that "worsening eczema, dry skin, and itching can also indicate gluten intolerance."
Celiac disease can also lead to neurological symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and fatigue. One surprising symptom of gluten intolerance is neuropathy, which involves numbness or tingling in the arms and legs. This occurs because gluten intolerance can lead to nutrient deficiencies, which may affect nerve function.
Another potential indicator of gluten intolerance and celiac disease is the feeling of fatigue. Anyone who suspects they may have a gluten allergy is advised to schedule an appointment with their doctor.
