Egyptian Petroleum Minister Tarek El Molla stated on Tuesday that "Egypt has initiated a program costing $1.8 billion to drill new exploratory wells for natural gas in the Mediterranean Sea and the Nile Delta." In an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM), El Molla mentioned: "The program is being implemented in collaboration with companies such as Eni, Chevron, ExxonMobil, Shell, and BP, aiming to drill 35 new exploratory wells over the next two years: 21 wells during the current fiscal year 2023/2024 and 14 wells during the fiscal year 2024/2025."
