Saudi authorities announced yesterday, Monday, the foiling of an attempt to smuggle 480,000 prohibited pills, which were hidden in a shipment of fabrics. The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority at the Islamic Port of Jeddah stated in a press release that it "managed to foil the smuggling attempt after discovering the pills concealed within a shipment that arrived in the Kingdom through the port."
The authority added, "The shipment consisted of fabrics, and during the customs inspection and security checks, that quantity of pills was found hidden inside the shipment." They continued: "After completing the seizure process, coordination was made with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to ensure the arrest of the recipients of the seized items within the Kingdom, and two individuals were arrested."
It is noteworthy that Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif Al Saud had previously promised to launch continuous strikes against drug traffickers and smugglers, emphasizing that no one would escape from drug smuggling into the Kingdom. The Interior Minister stated via Twitter: "Strike followed by strikes, from which drug traffickers and smugglers will not escape, who target our society and our nation."
