Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko expressed "confidence that the country can meet its electricity generation needs during the upcoming cold months." This statement came as a comment from the minister yesterday, Saturday, regarding what he described as the largest campaign to reform the electricity systems in modern Ukrainian history. When asked whether Ukraine would be able to achieve its goal of providing 1.7 gigawatts of electricity generation capacity by the heating season, Halushchenko stated, "We will be able to achieve that." He added that "he cannot provide details at the moment, but the country is increasing its electricity generation through methods it has not previously used."
