After the Escalation: Sweden's Ambassador Leaves Lebanon

Reports emerged today, Friday, indicating that Sweden's Ambassador to Lebanon, Anna Dismorr, has left the country to avoid any developments similar to what occurred in Iraq. This move comes after the escalation initiated by Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, who called on "Arab and Islamic peoples to urge their governments to withdraw their ambassadors from Sweden and expel Swedish diplomats from their countries." He also called for gatherings today with the slogan "Expel Swedish diplomats from our countries and withdraw our diplomats from Sweden." Additionally, internal security forces have reinforced security measures around the Swedish embassy in Beirut, with elements from the rapid intervention unit deployed in anticipation of protests condemning the desecration of the Quran in Sweden. A unit from the Commando Battalion has been stationed at the entrances of the Swedish embassy in Beirut, and security has been tightened around the ambassador's residence in the city.
